Garfield the cat doesn’t actually speak, so what would Garfield the comic look like if he just wasn’t there? Apparently it would look like Jon is a mental patient.

About Sean:
I'm a UX Designer at Google. I work in Mountain View and live in San Francisco. I don't like IE6, but I DO like cookies. The baked kind. That you eat.

A new issue of BetaBites! Oh, the drama! Also, next week is our spring break, so we’re all off to various corners of the world. As a result, you might not see quite as many new posts next week. Along with our random bits this week, we’ll also tell you what we’re doing for spring break so you can be jealous or gloat accordingly.

  • Brendan - I just kind of assumed that everyone knew what Escape Velocity is. The free space adventure game that helped define Mac gaming? Come on. If you’re unlucky enough not to have a clue, then you should try out the free version for Macs or Windows.

For spring break I’ll be heading to Toronto with Sean and other friends from our school. Canadia, here we come!

  • Brian - Snakes on a Plane Official Trailer - Oh it’s finally here. “They will kill you, you understand?” Yes, Sammy J, I think I finally do.

  • Grant - Diplo is a hot new mashup/hip-hop artist that I discovered on some of the DJ mixes over at Blentwell, which has the best podcast ever that pulls in tons of DJ mixes of all varieties. My favorite Diplo track is his Gold Digger remix which completely removes Kanye West’s vocals and adds more of the flavor of the original Ray Charles track. I’ve always hated Gold Digger but I love this version.

  • Sean - OilStandard Plugin - A really cool Firefox plugin that turns all prices displayed into your browser into the units of “barrels of oil”. Now I’m as socially concious as the next guy, but the idea and execution are just as awesome as the message. Neato.

Oh, also, for the record, V for Vendetta was totally awesome. A timely message of how much we suck.

Over spring break. I’ll be going to Toronto with some of my friends. I see hostels with wifi, museums, and barhopping in my future. Shiggity-shwah.

  • Zach - RandomNoise - You might have seen this site recently when Mark’s article onThe Five Buck Idea got Reddited/Del.icio.us’d. Mark’s stuff is really well written and pretty insightful, and its fun to flesh out ideas with him during a research meeting and then see it get posted a few days later. Check out some of the other stuff he’s written for some other quasi-cyncial views on Web2.0, Computing and the slackers he has for research assistants (*cough cough*).

Over spring break I’ll be catching up on work and sleeping. A lot.

is it just me? or does that snakes on a plane look beyond stupid? sammy j… what has your career come to? i heard tagworld was doing some sort of music promotion by promoting one of its registered users to be in a hollywood flickr. i thought that was cool. cool until i saw what the movie was going to be. have script writers truly lost all their creativity?

the gold digger remix still reminded me of kanye. i couldn’t stand 10 sec. before i closed the window. i hate that guy (not ray).

Diplo is awesome! He’s at least half the reason why M.I.A.’s album Arular was so incredible last year. They also teamed up on Piracy Funds Terrorism which is an excellent, highly-recommended mixtape.
