Yep. Sitting and waiting for our production server to greedily suck down a bunch of secret-tech XML at 3Mb/s. So there’s nothing to do but wait. And of course that means sharing with you the random assortment of tabs I have open. Because that’s what alwaysBETA is about - random, sometimes interesting, sometimes technical, stream of consciousness delivered in a happy little RSS package to your doorstep. Let’s get started, shall we?
First off, the world’s largest hole. Words don’t do it justice.
![]()
Apparently, it’s so big that helicopters have crashed trying to fly near or over it. More info and pictures here. The hole is located in Mirny, Russia, not Mirna as the sreedhara.com link states.
Second - an underwater mailbox. No real explanation here except that “each day the contents are collected from the box, which reportedly contains as many as 200 pieces of mail at the busiest times.”
Clearly this begs the question… how… and… why?
Last - famous “old” logos, redesigned with Web 2.0 gloss. Amusing, amusing.
Oh yes.
